2826

Out of a locked-down CMS and selling online for the first time

The Situation

2826 is a family-run team communications company in Andover, Hampshire, founded in 2013 and built on decades of industry experience. It supplies two-way radios and communication systems that keep teams connected across construction, retail, hospitality, security and healthcare, with each system set up for its environment, from high-pressure worksites to busy shop floors.

Its customers range from small businesses to large organisations, and many of them research their options online before they ever make contact.

The Problem

2826’s previous website came from another agency, on a content management system that limited what the business could do. Changing a page, adding a product or updating information was harder than it should have been, so the site fell behind the business and stopped reflecting it.

There was also no way to buy online. Every sale started with an enquiry, even for customers who knew exactly which radio they wanted.

And the site was doing little to be found. In a market where buyers compare suppliers online, and increasingly ask AI assistants for recommendations, a dated site with limited search performance was leaving business on the table.

What We Built

A new main website

A fresh, fully responsive brochure site that presents 2826's systems and sectors clearly, and reflects a modern communications business.

A brand new online shop

A WooCommerce store on its own subdomain, giving 2826 an online sales channel for the first time.

A back end the team controls

A user-friendly CMS that lets staff update pages, products and content themselves, without workarounds or waiting.

SEO and AEO built in

Search engine and answer engine optimisation across both sites, so 2826 shows up in Google and in AI assistants like ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude.

The Result

Traffic is up around 76%, driven by much wider search coverage across both sites, and visitors now arrive from AI assistants including ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude as well as from Google. The new online shop has given 2826 a sales channel it never had, and it’s performing well. Behind it all, the team can update the site whenever the business changes, without waiting on anyone.

Great support throughout. Both during our build and once live. The HITS team has been very responsive and always jumps on our requests with creative ideas and a can do attitude. A breath of fresh air!
