The Well Heeled Hippy Store sells luxury outdoor essentials from Codicote, Hertfordshire: furniture, camping accessories and picnic kit chosen as much for how they look as for how they work. It launched in May 2023 as an offshoot of its sister business, The Well Heeled Hippy Campervan Hire, after customers kept asking where they could buy the kit that made their campervan holidays look the way they did.
The selling point is the style. Customers aren’t buying a camping chair, they’re buying into a look, and much of the range is bought together as a set.
The store ran on Shopify, on a template that looked like countless other shops. For a brand whose whole proposition is premium style, the site did nothing to show it. The products were luxury, but the experience around them was not.
Selling sets made it harder. A standard template sells one product at a time, with no way for customers to put a table, seating and accessories together and see how they’d look before buying.
The site was also close to invisible in search. It had no SEO beyond Shopify’s defaults, so the brand relied on people who already knew its name. Behind it all, the owner was running the store by hand herself, alongside a second business.
We moved the store onto WordPress and WooCommerce, giving the business full control of its platform and room to grow without workarounds.
A design built from the brand outwards, so the site feels as premium as the products and shopping works beautifully on every device.
Customers build their own set through a guided process and see their selections laid out visually before they buy.
Every product, category and page optimised from launch, replacing Shopify's defaults with titles, descriptions and keyphrases aimed at buyers searching for luxury outdoor kit.
Traffic to the site rose 114% in the first three months after launch. The store now looks and feels like the brand it represents, and customers design complete sets on the site instead of piecing them together product by product.
It also runs far more automatically than it did. The owner no longer does everything herself, and the time that used to go on running the shop now goes into the rest of the business.
